Christopher Volante Hinchliff (born 1993 or 1994) is a British Labour Party politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Hertfordshire since 2024. Prior to becoming a politician, he worked for CPRE, The Countryside Charity.
Life
Hinchliff was educated at The Howard of Effingham School in Surrey and King's College, Cambridge, where he read history and was a member of Cambridge University Labour Club. Afterwards, he studied for an MSc in ecological economics at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2016.
He was a Labour Party organiser before working for the charities Independent Age and CPRE. From 2022 to 2024, he was a Labour and Co-operative Party councillor for the Royston Palace ward of the North Hertfordshire District Council, where he also held the position of Executive Member for Planning and Transport. He resigned as councillor on 2 September 2024 after his election to Parliament.
Hinchliff was elected as the Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Hertfordshire at the 2024 general election.
