Dear X (Korean: 친애하는 X) is an upcoming South Korean melo-thriller television series written by Choi Ja-won, co-directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun, and starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon, and Lee Yul-eum. Based on Naver webtoon of the same name by Vanziun, it depicts the downfall of top actress Baek A-jin and her two faces hidden behind it. It is scheduled to premiere on TVING in 2025.




Synopsis


Dear X is a cruel and beautiful melo-thriller about a woman who wears a mask to survive and a man who tries to save her.

Kim Yoo-jung as Baek A-jin, a woman who wears a mask to survive. She is a top actress in South Korea who hides her cruel nature behind her beautiful face.
Kim Young-dae as Yoon Jun-seo, a man who believes that salvation was love. He has been by A-jin's side his whole life and his only refuge and fatal achilles' heel.
Kim Do-hoon as Kim Jae-oh, A-jin's blind supporter who protects her in a different way than Jun-seo. He survived the abuse of his father who was addicted to a cult.
Lee Yul-eum as Lena, a woman who has fallen into endless unrequited love. She is an idol-turned-actress who rose to stardom with her outstanding visuals and luck.

Production


Dear X was co-directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun and written by Choi Ja-won, who won the grand prize at the 2018 KBS One-Act Drama Script Contest. It is based on a popular Naver webtoon of the same name by Vanziun. It was planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Monster Union and Siwoo Company, and provided by TVING.
It was reported on June 4, 2024, that Kim Yoo-jung had been offered a role in the series and was considering it. The next day, Kim Young-dae was considering an offer to appear in the series, and lastly, two of them were teaming up to appear in the series, as exclusively reported by Osen. On June 25, according to SPOTV News interview, Kim Do-hoon was in negotiations after receiving an offer for the series. The next day, Hwang In-youp received an offer and was confirmed for a special appearance in the series.
On August 8, 2024, TVING revealed the cast lineup, including Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon, and Lee Yul-eum.




Release


Dear X is scheduled to premiere on TVING in 2025.
