Masako Wada (born 1943) is a Japanese hibakusha as a survivor of the 1945 atomic bombing of Nagasaki, who is assistant secretary general of Nihon Hidankyo (Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations). Her organization won the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize. Wada represented the organization for the Nobel Committee telephone interview.
Early life and education
In 1945, when she was 1 year and 10 months old, she was exposed to the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki City (2.9 kilometers from Ground Zero). She graduated from the English Department of Meiji Gakuin University decades later.
