History
Porterdale was incorporated on March 10, 1917, and was named after Oliver S. Porter, a local mill owner.

Porterdale is located at 33°34′11″N 83°53′53″W (33.569585, -83.897968).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), all land.
