Robertas Lozinskis (born 24 June 1991) is a Lithuanian-born classical pianist.
Early life and education
Lozinskis was born in Kaunas in 1991. He began his music education at age seven at the Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium in Lithuania, graduating in 2010 from the class of teacher-expert Birutė Kumpikienė. He later attended the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre under Prof. Zbignevas Ibelhauptas, completing his bachelor’s degree. During this period, he also spent a year as an exchange student at the Berlin University of the Arts, studying under Prof. Elena Lapitskaja. In 2016, Lozinskis received his master’s degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied with Prof. Fali Pavri. He furthered his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin from 2018 to 2022, earning master’s degrees in solo piano performance with Prof. Kirill Gerstein and in chamber music with Profs. Eberhard Feltz and Martin Spangenberg.
Besides his formal studies, Lozinskis’s musical development was shaped by masterclasses with renowned pianists, including Nikolai Lugansky, Pascal Devoyon, Christopher Elton, Mikhail Voskresensky, Stanislav Pochekin, Michel Beroff, Dmitri Bashkirov, Steven Osborne, Dmitri Alexeev, Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Aaron Shorr, and Elisabeth Leonskaja.
Career
Lozinskis has performed at prominent venues, including the Berliner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Bargemusic in New York, and the Budapest Music Center. His performances span over 20 countries across Europe and North America, with appearances at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Heidelberger Frühling, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Ensems Festival in Spain, the Schiermonnikoog Festival in the Netherlands, and the Newbury Spring Festival in England.
As a soloist, Lozinskis has collaborated with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Jean-Claude Picard, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra led by Modestas Barkauskas, the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra under Giedrė Šlekytė, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra under Constantine Orbelian, and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under Pavel Kogan. His repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music and includes premieres of works by composers such as Joel Hoffman, Juta Pranulytė, Algirdas Klova, Jonas Jurkūnas, Mykolas Natalevičius, and Fran Barajas.
Chamber music
In 2015, Lozinskis co-founded Trio Agora with clarinetist Žilvinas Brazauskas and cellist Natania Hoffman. The trio has released three albums: Youth (2017), featuring works by classical composers written early in their careers; Connecting Identities (2020), a collection of commissioned world premieres by Lithuanian composers or those with Lithuanian ties, commemorating the Centennial of Lithuania’s statehood; and Hotel Tango (2023), presenting a series of original arrangements exploring the evolution of tango, with Astor Piazzolla's Four Seasons in Buenos Aires as the album’s centerpiece, alongside Joel Hoffman’s Foxtrot Romeo Juliet Hotel Tango. Since 2023 the group is represented by Rosenthal Musikmanagement based in Leipzig, Germany.
Kaunas Piano Fest
In 2018, Lozinskis co-founded Kaunas Piano Fest in Kaunas, Lithuania. The festival provides masterclasses, workshops, and performance opportunities for young pianists from various countries, promoting cultural exchange and artistic development.
Entrepreneurship
Lozinskis is also the co-founder of PianoBuffs, an online platform designed to present piano music through performance, educational content, and storytelling. The platform aims to make classical music accessible to a wider audience.
Personal life
Lozinskis is married to pianist Monika Lozinskienė.
