The Squid is the name of two villains in DC Comics.
Publication history
The first Squid debuted in Detective Comics #497 (December 1980) and was created by Gerry Conway and Don Newton.
The second Squid debuted in Adventure Comics #490 (February 1982) and was created by E. Nelson Bridwell and Carmine Infantino.
Fictional character biography
= Lawrence Loman
=Lawrence Loman, also known as Clement Carp, is a crime lord and criminal in Gotham City. Following the defeat of Rupert Thorne and Tony Falco, Loman attempts to fill the resulting power vacuum and battles Batman before his former gang member Killer Croc kills him.
The Squid is resurrected following the Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity reboot. In The New 52 reboot, he is depicted as a drug dealer.
= Unnamed alien
=The second Squid is an alien who arrives on Earth with his partner Abyss to commit a string of robberies. Squid battles H-Dial wielders Chris King and Vicki Grant and Nelson Jent before Abyss abandons him and leaves him to die.
Powers and abilities
The second Squid can project deadly ink with various properties.

The Lawrence Loman incarnation of Squid appears in The Penguin, portrayed by Jared Abrahamson.
