Amatol adalah bahan peledak militer yang terdiri dari campuran TNT dan amonium nitrat. Dikembangkan oleh angkatan bersenjata Jerman, kata "amatol" diciptakan oleh Inggris yang percaya bahwa kata itu terbuat dari amonium dan toluena (bahan yang digunakan untuk membuat TNT). Amatol digunakan terutama selama Perang Dunia Pertama dan Kedua oleh berbagai pasukan yang berkonflik. Bahan dasar peledak adalah TNT, amonium pikrat, PETN, RDX, HMX, bubuk aluminium dan bahan lainnya, yang kemudian mereka dikomposisikan menjadi bahan peledak jenis baru.
Amatol terdiri dari trinitrotoluena (TNT) dan amonium nitrat (NO3−NH4+) dalam perbandingan stoikiometri. Produk campuran memiliki daya ledak yang sedikit lebih kecil dibandingkan TNT murni, setara dengan TNT adalah 0,8. Amatol adalah salah satu bahan peledak militer pertama yang banyak digunakan karena tidak sensitif terhadap guncangan, panas dan dingin. Selain itu, amatol relatif mudah ditangani. Sebagai bahan peledak militer, bahan ini digunakan dalam bom udara, peluru, bom kedalaman, rudal V2 Jerman, dan ranjau laut. Ahli kimia Jerman telah mengembangkan amatol dengan tujuan agar dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk dengan mencampurkannya dengan pupuk fosfat.
Sejak tahun 1960-an, amatol telah digantikan oleh bahan peledak lain, seperti Komposisi B, torpex dan tritonal, berdasarkan RDX atau Semtex.
