Feb 26, 2020 · A Linux part-time user since 1999, I was dual-booting Windows, and Mint Linux at one point, before trying Arch for a few years. I no longer felt like the distro I'm using gets in my way of doing things like Ubuntu felt every time I try it, but grew tired of Arch breaking what seemed like every other few updates.

Sep 12, 2022 · FYI Arch can have a DE just like any other distro and there is no such thing as stable vs fast updates. There's stable vs latest software, but stable vs fast updates is a false dichotomy. Updating is as stable as it gets on Arch and update speed depends on your internet connection, unless you're compiling. These were how we answered differently.
Jul 22, 2014 · This does very much depend on how you define a "distro". If you are looking to "create an Arch ISO that comes with your own personal selection of favourite packages and configurations" then you are not "creating your own linux OS" - you are creating a "custom Arch ISO". Which may be a better place to cut your teeth.
May 30, 2014 · Arch Linux was my first distro ever, although I had used OS X for a couple of months before that so I was used to the CLI. I think the only thing where I ran into trouble was when I had to decide what partitions to use and stuff like that, I didn't want to mess it up.
Flexible in-house tools for low level items. Arch is probably the easiest distro to get started with UKIs. Cons: Defaults aren't always defaults. Arch takes a light touch approach for packaging but sometimes disables options. Integration. A lot of work goes into making the default shipped software feel fully integrated.
