  • John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir, (; 26 Agustus 1875 – 11 Februari 1940) adalah seorang politikus Unionis, sejarawan dan novelis Skotlandia yang menjabat sebagai Gubernur Jenderal Kanada ke-15 sejak Konfederasi Kanada.
    Setelah berkarier hukum, Buchan memulai karier menulisnya dan karier politik dan diplomatiknya, menjabat sebagai sekretaris pribadi administrator kolonial dari berbagai koloni di selatan Afrika. Ia kemudian menulis propaganda untuk upaya perang Inggris dalam Perang Dunia Pertama. Pada 1927, Buchan terpilih menjadi Anggota Parlemen untuk Combined Scottish Universities, namuna ia menjalani sebagian besar waktunya untuk berkarier menulis, utamanya menulis The Thirty-Nine Steps dan fiksi petualangan lainnya. Pada 1935, ia dilantik menjadi Gubernur Jenderal Kanada oleh Raja George V, atas rekomendasi Perdana Menteri Kanada R. B. Bennett, untuk menggantikan the Earl of Bessborough. Ia menduduki jabatan tersebut sampai ia meninggal pada 1940. Buchan diingat karena keantusiasannya terhadap sastra, serta evolusi budaya Kanada, dan ia meraih pemakaman negara di Kanada sebelum jenazahnya dipulangkan ke Britania Raya.
