Jus sanguinis atau ius sanguinis (bahasa Latin untuk "asas keturunan, hak untuk darah atau pertalian darah") adalah penentuan kewarganegaraan berdasarkan pertalian darah atau keturunan. Asas ini dianut oleh negara yang tidak dibatasi oleh lautan seperti Eropa Kontinental dan Tiongkok. Keuntungan dari asas jus sanguinis adalah:
Akan memperkecil jumlah orang keturunan asing sebagai warga negara.
Tidak akan memutuskan hubungan antara negara dengan warga negara yang lain.
Semakin menumbuhkan semangat nasionalisme.
Bagi negara daratan seperti Tiongkok, yang tidak menetap pada suatu negara tertentu, tetapi keturunan tetap sebagai warga negaranya meskipun lahir di tempat lain (negara tetangga).

My line of descent goes; Great Great Grandfather -> Great Grandfather -> Grandmother -> Mother. I am worried that I might not qualify because while my mother was born 1958, my grandmother was born 1935.
