    • North American Aviation Mustang P-51 adalah sebuah pesawat petarung jarak jauh buatan pengintai (reconnaissance aircraft) Amerika Serikat. Pesawat ini menjadi salah satu pesawat tempur terbaik pada perang dunia II. Mustang menjadi satu-satunya pesawat petarung yang mampu mencapai Berlin, baik untuk melangsungkan serangan mandiri maupun untuk mengawal pesawat pengebom yang akan menjatuhkan bom di Berlin.


    Sejarah


    Inggris yang sedang terlibat perang di Eropa membutuhkan sebuah pesawat yang mampu mencapai Jerman dan mengawal pengebom yang setiap saat jatuh di tembak pesawat penyerang Jerman seperti Mechesmith BF-109 NAZI yang merupakan fighter Luftwafe(Angkatan Udara Jerman) era NAZI, maka dibuatlah pesawat oleh North American Aviation dengan nama P-51.Mustang yang mampu mengimbangi BF-109 Luftwafe untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ini sementara di pihak lain Uni Soviet juga memiliki petarung udara IL-2.Sturmovik dari biro disain Ilyushin. Pada bagian mesin P-51.Mustang dipasang mesin Rolls Royce buatan Inggris. Pesawat yang dibuat mempunyai kelemahan pada kelincahan di ketinggian maksimum, maka ditambahkanlah turbo charger pada mesinnya. Hasilnya adalah sebuah pesawat yang handal untuk perang jarak jauh, dan menjadi legenda.
    Mustang diproduksi ribuan dan digunakan oleh banyak angkatan udara, termasuk Indonesia. Indonesia menerima Mustang sebagai hibah dari Belanda, ironisnya Mustang juga digunakan Indonesia melawan Belanda dan sekutunya dikemudian hari. Karena gambar mulut menganga berwarna merah di ujung pesawat, pesawat di gambar ini populer dengan julukan "si cocor merah".

11 Agu 2017 · Looks like the 1450mm P-51 FMS Backplate/Prop is a better fit vs. adapting it to the 1700mm P-51D ( raised prop shaft boss on center and very different hole spacing) With slight alignment of holes, it could be mounted outside for structural safety.

21 Mei 2017 · Going back to Mustang I's, NAA seemed to have settled on one design, but then on P-51, P-51A, P-36, etc they introduced a shroud that slanted back, towards the pilot. This carried over into B's and C's (note shroud visible in front pit of Collins P-51C, above).

14 Sep 2011 · New to this thread, but have the FMS 1700 P-51 from many years ago, although it does have the 5060-360 Kv motor and 85 amp ESC. For me, it's still kinda a dog with the 4 blade 17X10 stock props and was thinking of upgrading it.
