I would love to hear some feedback from anyone who has experience with these amps. Aug 10, 2015 · If you go the 700B route it is rewarding but pricey, although much cheaper if you diy. To be clear the 700B and 700II can be made into latest and greatest full complimentary outputs, the original 700 series 1 can be made into quasi complimentary (same as it is now) so there is an upside to the 700B/700II route.
Dec 1, 2012 · Phase Linear 400s and 700s. We do restoration on these and the original PL ccts have major stability problems. The main VAS transistor can certainly do with a collector-Base capacitor but 180pF is way too high.
Apr 24, 2018 · My 700 Pro is a Jensen-era unit, but the Series II I rebuilt for my friend was still a Phase Linear. Same board, just mine is slightly re-configured for full comp operation vs quasi-comp. Mine is also a fiberglass board and I want to say his was phenolic, so better construction on the newer one even if its the same circuit.

Mar 23, 2019 · There are a lot of horror stories about a Phase Linear 700 and most were true. Having. cooling package is very necessary to avoid the beginnings of some issues, but its not a cure all. I would rather spend $500 on A Crown or QSC amp.

Oct 26, 2021 · A White Oak max upgraded Dual Mono PL700B or 700 series II sounds ungodly good with THD+ N so low its not even worth mentioning. I have a TOTL Clair Brothers 700II super max upgraded right down to all silver wiring. It sounds easily as good as my old Mark Levinson 333.5 that it replaced and runs nowhere as hot and about half the weight.
