Pada saat tahap produksi, para pemain film tidak menyangka harus merasakan perang sesungguhnya dengan orang-orang Vietnam yang memproduksi ganja. Mereka harus bekerja sama (walaupun sebenarnya tidak bisa, khususnya Tugg Speedman dengan Kirk Lazarus) agar dapat menyelesaikan film dan kembali dengan selamat (dan utuh) dengan para kru film. Film ini mengisahkan proses pembuatan film perang yang berujung bencana. Saat tahap produksi sedang berlangsung, para pemain sering ribut dan keras kepala kepada sutradara. Untuk memberi pelajaran dan merekatkan kedekatan antar pemain, sutradara membawa para pemain ke hutan. Namun sutradara malah meninggal karena menginjak ranjau. Untuk menghormati sang sutradara, mereka berlima melanjutkan film berbekal catatan yang ada. Tidak lama setelah itu, Tugg ditangkap oleh anggota Flaming Dragon, kelompok bersenjata. Mereka menelepon agen Tugg, Rick Pecker (Matthew McConaughey), meminta uang tebusan 10 juta dolar. Keempat pemain yang tersisa harus melanjutkan perjalanan dan menemukan kamp Flaming Dragon. Tugas mereka berempat adalah menyelamatkan Tugg dan mungkin melanjutkan pembuatan film.Referensi
