It was the 19th edition of the ATP Buenos Aires event, and part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2016 ATP World Tour. It took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 8 February through 14 February 2016. Fifth-seeded Dominic Thiem won the singles title.
