Aphra Kendal Alice Brandreth (born 18 July 1978) is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Chester South and Eddisbury since 2024.
Background
Brandreth was born in Middlesex Hospital in London on 18 July 1978. Her father is the broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, who served as a Conservative MP for City of Chester from 1992 to 1997.
She went to Godolphin and Latymer School in London and studied economics at University College London. She worked from 2003 to 2013 as an economic adviser to Defra.
Political career
Brandreth contested Kingston and Surbiton at the 2019 general election, coming second to Ed Davey. She was deputy leader of Richmond upon Thames Borough Council from 2018 to 2022.
She was elected to the seat of Chester South and Eddisbury in the 2024 general election. She made her maiden speech on 24 July.
