Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shariatpur Agriculture University is a public university under the auspices of the Government of Bangladesh. On 6 October 2021, the Government of Bangladesh approved the establishment of this university.
Establishment
On June 10, 2021, former deputy water resources minister AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Iqbal Hossain Apu and Nahim Razzak, three former parliamentarians from Shariatpur together gave a semi-official letter to the education minister. On January 9, 2022, the cabinet gave in-principal approval to the draft of the Sheikh Hasina Agricultural University Act, 2022. Plans were taken up to establish the university at Shariatpur. The prime minister approved the project on October 6, 2020.
On 12 June 2023, the cabinet gave final approval to change the name of Sheikh Hasina Agricultural University to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Agricultural University.
