Baron Leighton of St Mellons, of St Mellons in the County of Monmouth, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 25 January 1962 for the Welsh shipping magnate Sir Leighton Seager, 1st Baronet. He was the son of Sir William Henry Seager. Seager had already been created a Baronet, of St Mellons in the County of Monmouth on 1 July 1952. As of 2023 the titles are held by his great-grandson, the fourth Baron, who succeeded his father on 28 May 2023. (Ref.- peerage news( google groups) - At the date of 16 October 2023 the new Baron had not proved his succession,but had requested to be listed on the Official Roll of the Peerage by the House of Lords,(Ref,- House of Lords Minutes 16 October 2023). From The House of Lords Minutes of 8 November 2023, the Lord Chancellor reported that Richard Leighton Seager had established his claim to the Barony of Leighton and Saint Mellons in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
