Ella McCay is an upcoming American comedy film written and directed by James L. Brooks. It stars Emma Mackey as the title character, with Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri, Kumail Nanjiani, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Albert Brooks in supporting roles.
It is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios.

A young politician tries to balance work and family life while she takes over as Governor of her state.

Production
It was announced in November 2023 that James L. Brooks was set to write and direct his first film in thirteen years, with 20th Century Studios set as the distributor. Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri, Albert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani and Spike Fearn set to star. In February 2024, Jack Lowden and Rebecca Hall joined the cast.
Principal photography began in Rhode Island on February 1, 2024, with Brooks and the cast appearing at a press conference at the Rhode Island State House to announce production had begun. Filming wrapped on May 3. It was also expected to shoot in Cleveland, Ohio.
