Exaltation of the Holy Cross church (Ukrainian: Церква Воздвиження Чесного Хреста Господнього) is an Orthodox parish church (OCU) in Zazdrist of the Mykulyntsi settlement hromada of the Ternopil Raion of the Ternopil Oblast.
History
The village once had an old wooden church, which was burned down by a lightning strike. In its place, a red stone church was built in 1876 at the expense of the family of Cardinal Josyf Slipyj and the community. The main benefactor was Countess Mariia Borkovska (Марія Борковська), who allocated the land for construction. They also built a stone bell tower with three bells, which were purchased in Przemyśl by Roman Dychkovskyi (Josyf Slipyj's grandfather) and engraved with the names of the founders.
In the summer of 1943, the villagers buried the large and small bells in the ground, and the Germans managed to take the third bell out of the village. In 2002, the bells were dug up and installed in the bell tower.
The church is located on the territory of the old cemetery, near the grave of Cardinal Josyf Slipyj's parents. The cemetery is interesting for its ancient red sandstone tombstones. The estate of the parents of Cardinal Josyf Slipyj has been preserved, and in 1998 the Museum and Memorial Complex "Native House" of Patriarch Josyf Slipyj was opened on its territory.
