The concept of the Future Force unit of action (UA) was devised within the operational framework of the United States Army. This initiative, known as the Future Combat Systems (FCS), is focused on enhancing the capabilities of combat units. Although its primary design emphasizes offensive operations, the FCS-equipped unit of action (UA) is intended to remain versatile across a spectrum of operational contexts. The overarching goal of the FCS is to bolster the strategic deployability and operational maneuvering capacity of ground combat formations, all while ensuring that their potency in terms of lethality and survivability remains intact.
Each will consist of:
3 combined arms battalions (CABs)
1 non-line-of-sight (NLOS) cannon battalion
1 reconnaissance surveillance and target acquisition (RSTA) squadron
1 forward support battalion (FSB)
1 brigade intelligence and communications company (BICC)
1 headquarters company
