Gerila (Kurdish: گەریلا, romanized: Gerîla) is a term for Kurdish leftist militants, mainly the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), or groups close to them. Gerilas are mainly active against Turkey. Gerilas are also known for their recruitment of both women and men. Gerilas adhere to democratic confederalism.
The term Gerila was initially used to refer to one of the People's Defence Forces units, however Gerila later became a name for People's Defence Forces in general.
The PKK operations are broadcast on their internet channel, Gerila TV.
