Gordan Bosanac (born 18 September 1973) is a Croatian politician and member of the European Parliament who led the Možemo! party list at the 2024 European Parliament election in Croatia.
Personal life
Bosanac was born in Zagreb, Croatia and graduated in 1999 in physics engineering from the Zagreb Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and in 2004 in human rights studies at the University College London.
From 1990 to 1993, at age 17-20, Bosanac was part of the Montažstroj Football Theater.
From 2000 till 2019, Bosanac worked in the non-governmental sector at Zagreb's Centre for Peace Studies (CMS), working on LGBT rights, migration, rule of law and human security, notably civilian control over police and armed forces. He took part in organising the first Zagreb Pride in 2002, was part of the campaign for conscentious objection in Croatia, and worked as peacebuilder trainer in 2000-2004. He contributed to founding the lesbian associations Iskorak (2002-2005) and Kontra, and worked for the association Domino (Queer Zagreb).
He was first elected as a member of the Zagreb City Council.
In 2019 Bosanac is among the founders of Možemo!. Upon the entry of the party into Parliament in 2020, he is secretary of the parliamentary group.
At the April 2024 parliamentary elections, Bosanac is elected to the Croatian Parliament, among the 10 MPs of Možemo! representing Electoral District VI and is the party's spokesman. He was a member of the parliamentary council for civil oversight of security and intelligence agencies since 2018.
During the 2024 European Parliament elections, he campaigned strongly to defeat Mislav Kolakušić and has supported the Croatian recognition of Palestine.
He is the first openly gay MEP elected in Croatia. He chose the former Croatian Ambassador to the EU, Mato Škrabalo, as parliamentary assistant.
