  • The Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University (GPNU; 广东技术师范大学; 'Guangdong Technical Normal University') is a provincial public university in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. The university is affiliated with and sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government.
    The main task of the university is to train qualified teachers for all kinds of secondary vocational schools and higher vocational schools at all levels.


    History


    Formerly known as Guangdong Institute of Nationalities (GDIN; 广东民族学院),the University was approved by the State Education Commission in Oct. 1957 and then they moved to Hainan in 1961.The campus was totally closed due to the Cultural Revolution.After that, The school reopened on April 25,1974 and returned to Guangzhou campus in 1978.
    In 1998, the School was renamed to Guangdong Vocational Polytechnic Normal College (广东职业技术师范学院; 'Guangdong College for Vocational and Technical Teachers'). Then, they merged Guangdong School of Mechanical Engineering and changed the name to "广东技术师范学院"(Guangdong Polytechnic Normal Collage) in 2002.
    In 2005, Guangdong Economic Management Institute and Guangdong Finance and Trade Management Institute merged into Guangdong Polytechnic Normal Collage.
    On December 4, 2018, the school was approved to change its name to "广东技术师范大学" (Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. )


    Campus


    At present, the school has East Campus (No. 293 Zhongshan Avenue West,Tianhe district,Guangzhou), West Campus(No. 576 Longkou West Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou), North Campus(No. 183 Guangyuan West Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou), Baiyun Campus(No.155 Huanzhen West Road, Jianggao Town, Baiyun District, Guangzhou) and Heyuan Campus(East of Dongjiang Education City East Ring Road, Xiandang Town, Dongyuan County, Heyuan).


    Faculty


    The school was approved as a master's degree authorization unit in 2006, and was approved as a Guangdong Province doctoral degree authorization unit in 2021. Currently, there are 3 first-level master's degree authorization points (covering 19 second-level discipline directions), 1 independent second-level master's degree authorization point, and 2 professional master's degree authorization points. It has 64 undergraduate majors, covering engineering, science, literature, management, education, economics, law, art, and other disciplines.
