Career
= Charter schools in Washington, D.C.
=In 2009, Goldman began working as a senior consultant for public charter schools in Washington, D.C. serving African American students. He worked in leadership roles at the William E. Doar Jr. Public Charter School (WEDJ) and the IDEA Public Charter School. During Goldman's tenure as executive director at WEDJ, the school had the lowest family return rates of a District charter school. According to a principal who worked under him, he systematically fired staff, collected two executive director salaries from two separate schools, and then recommended himself to be appointed to the position of Board Chair. The firm TenSquare appointed Goldman IDEA Public Charter School's executive director in 2012. From 2011 to 2016, he was paid more than $1.1 million for his work at the two schools.
= Blogging
=From 2015, Goldman blogged under a pseudonym on his website, Jack Murphy Live, writing on subjects ranging from lifestyle and career advice to conservative politics and gender dynamics. He often wrote about the benefits of masculinity and the drawbacks of feminism, declaring in a 2015 post that "feminists need rape" and that "It is our duty as men to save feminists from themselves. Therefore, I am offering rape to feminists as an olive branch." In another article from the same year, Goldman recounted his experiences as a cuckold and wrote "I've had sex slaves, little girls, and tied them all up." Many of his writings have been described as racist and misogynist, which led some to associate him with the alt-right. In his own defense, he noted that he had criticized Richard Spencer for his advocacy of a white ethnostate.
In January 2018, it was publicly revealed that the pseudonymous blogger Jack Murphy was actually John Goldman, and that he was a senior manager of finance for the D.C. Public Charter School Board. He was doxed in a Twitter post by Lacy MacAuley, a left-wing activist. Goldman confirmed on his blog that Jack Murphy was his pseudonym. Goldman's proximity to the alt-right and manosphere resulted in calls for his firing, though he denied any involvement with the alt-right or white nationalism. He was placed on administrative leave in January, and by April, he was no longer employed by the organization.
In June 2018, Goldman published the book Democrat to Deplorable.
= Podcasting

His guests included Aleksandr Dugin, Joe Kent, JD Vance, Blake Masters, Jack Posobiec, Mike Cernovich, Dave Rubin, and Bronze Age Pervert. He hosted around two shows a month, from November 2018 to June 2022, when he stopped producing new episodes altogether.
= Other ventures
=In 2019, Goldman founded the online organization, The Liminal Order. The group is men-only and costs $99 a month to join. The organization is marketed as a way for men to cultivate "healthy masculinity", help members network, and build generational wealth. Murphy's website claims a membership of 500.
Goldman was a 2021 Lincoln Fellow at the Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank in California.
In December 2021, it was revealed Goldman had authored a 2015 article detailing his experiences as a voluntary cuckold. He later admitted to producing amateur pornography, performing in homosexual solo acts as well as scenes with his girlfriend, and streaming it on the internet. Many of his fans and conservatives on the internet ridiculed Goldman and accused him of hypocrisy.
Goldman, under the name of Jack Murphy, launched a wellness alliance called Rebel Health Alliance. The website boasts that it delivers a customized, ground up care plan that begins with your DNA and ends up with you feeling your best. It claims to be able to find the exercises, food, and sleep protocols that are specific to your DNA. This does not appear to be founded in actual research.
Personal life
Goldman is divorced and has three children. He is Jewish.
