Joshua Mortoti is a Ghanaian mechanical and mining engineer. He served as the executive vice president and head of West Africa for Gold Fields Limited and president of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
Education
Mortoti holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology. He earned an MBA from Henley Management College in the United Kingdom and he is a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA CGMA) and a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering.
Career
Mortoti began his career in the mining industry, focusing on mine operations, engineering, strategic planning, and business development. He spent 15 years with Newmont, holding various managerial and executive roles, including general manager of the Akyem mine and mine Manager of the Ahafo mine.
In April 2021, he joined Gold Fields as vice president of operations for the West Africa Region. Prior to joining Gold Fields, he served as the business development manager for AngloGold Ashanti's West Africa operations.
In June 2022, Mortoti was elected President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, taking over from Eric Asubonteng. Additionally, he has been a member of the technical committees of Ghana's Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, Ghana Standards Board, and the Energy Commission.
