Kauravudu is a 2000 Indian Telugu-language film directed by V. Jyothikumar. The film stars Nagendra Babu and Ramya Krishna in lead roles. It was produced by K. Padmaja under the banners of Sai Varun Teja Arts and Anjana Productions. The music was composed by Mani Sharma, with cinematography by Mohan Chand and editing by K. Rango Paul Reddy.
Plot
The film follows Surya, a zamindar living in a rural area who harbours a deep-seated hatred for women. His animosity extends to the point of attempting to close down the local temple. Surya spends his days roaming the village, punishing wrongdoers, and drinking at night. After the retirement of a local teacher, a new teacher named Sasi comes to the village. While the villagers fear Surya, Sasi is unafraid of him, leading to a mutual dislike between the two.
As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Sasi feels pity for Surya after learning about his tragic past—his brother died by suicide due to betrayal from a woman, and his wife also died as a result of this trauma. Sasi becomes determined to change Surya's heart. After Surya saves her child from danger, he begins to soften. He falls in love with Sasi, but becomes distressed when he discovers that she previously loved another man.
Amidst rumours and accusations from the villagers that Sasi is involved with Surya, she decides to leave the village. Ultimately, Sasi realizes her own feelings for Surya, leading to a reconciliation and the conclusion of the story.
