The Kheibar (Persian: خیبر), also known as Khorramshahr-4, is an Iranian medium-range ballistic missile from the fourth generation of the Khorramshahr missile family manufactured by the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This missile was unveiled on Thursday, June 4, 2023 in the presence of Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic. The Khoramshahr ballistic missile offers a range of 2,000 km and can carry a 1,500-kilogram warhead.
Development
The missile was unveiled by the Iran's Defense Minister Mohammad-Reza Gharaei Ashtiani on Thursday, 25 May 2023 coinciding with the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr.
Naming
The Khorramshahr-4 is named after an Iranian city that was the scene of heavy fighting - known as Battle of Khorramshahr - during the Iraq-Iran War in the 1980s. The missile also is called Khaybar, after a fortress conquered by Muslims in the 7th century during the Battle of Khaybar in Arabia.
