Kokoko! is an experimental electronic music collective based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Their sound is created through homemade, unconventional instruments made from scrap, and their lyrics focus on political problems within the country. The group performs in a variety of different languages, including Kikongo, French, Lingala, and Swahili.
History
The group started in 2016, choosing the name Kokoko! as it is an onomatopoeia in the Lingala language to signify knocking on doors. The group was brought together by Débruit (Xavier Thomas), their producer, who met the other members of the group at a party in Ngwaka, Kinshasa. The group chose to use experimental, homemade instruments due to the high price of traditional instruments in Kinshasa and the lack of ways to create electronic music. Kokoko! chooses to use instruments made out of unconventional junk and scrap. The lyrics of their music are allegorical, with references to the political situation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. KOKOKO!'s sound has been compared to Grace Jones, Talking Heads, and the Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste. Member Makara Bianko describes the music using the phrase tekno kintueni.
In 2017, the group released their first single, "Tokoliana". In late 2017, the group released "Tongo'sa" / "Likolo". In 2019, they released the single "Azo Toke" in the run-up to the release of their debut studio album, Fongola. They released Fongola on 5 July 2019 with Transgressive Records, which received rave reviews.

Plot
Lisa (Anna Mikhalkova), a dedicated researcher employed at the Kunstkamera, embarks on a journey to St.Petersburg. While on her way, she happens to come across Vika (Yana Troyanova), a restaurant hostess from Yekaterinburg, which turns out to be a fortunate encounter. Coincidentally, Vika is also making her way to St.Petersburg, albeit with a distinct objective - to immerse herself in the vibrant atmosphere and revel in the city's vibrant offerings purely for pleasure and leisure.
While on the train, unfortunate circumstances befall them as their bags, containing all their valuable documents and money, are snatched away by miscreants. Left with no means to navigate through this challenging situation, Lisa extends her kindness and offers Vika a temporary refuge at her humble abode.
Vika's relentless dedication to her work at the museum brings about a whirlwind of non-stop celebrations, transforming the once mundane life of the museum worker into an ongoing sequence of lively festivities. However, as their friendship begins to blossom, unforeseen tensions arise, causing their relationship to transition from camaraderie to a full-blown conflict.
Within the realms of these two contrasting worlds, two heroines coexist: Lisa, an intellectual who is torn between her indecisiveness and her heightened sensitivity, unable to break free from her past relationship with her ex-husband, and Vika, a vibrant and accessible character who exudes confidence, yet possesses an endearing naivety and innate kindness in certain aspects of her life.
Due to a web of complicated emotions, circumstances, and actions, Lisa finds herself on the verge of committing a crime, while Victoria ultimately pays the price by serving a prison sentence.
