  • Filipino actress Gloria Romero has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including seven FAMAS Awards, four Luna Awards, three Gawad Urian Awards, five Metro Manila Film Festival, two International Film Festival Manhattan and three Box Office Entertainment Awards. Often regarded as the greatest movie queen in Philippine cinema, she is the first woman to win the FAMAS Award for Best Actress in a comedy role, as well as the oldest woman to win Best Actress at the FAMAS (2001) and Metro Manila Film Festival (2018). As of 2021, Romero ranked third among Filipino actresses with the most best actress wins this century across the major award-giving bodies in the country.

    Romero won her first major acting award at the FAMAS for her role in Dalagang Ilocana (1954). She has since received FAMAS Award for Best Actress nominations for her leading roles in Alaalang Banal (1958), Ikaw Ang Aking Buhay (1959) and Iginuhit ng Tadhana (1965). She has also received nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the FAMAS for her roles in Condemned (1984), Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig? (1987) and Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit (1989), winning one for Nagbabagang Luha (1988). She has also won the Luna Award for Best Actress for her role as the matriarch in Tanging Yaman (2000) and Best Supporting Actress for her roles in Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig? (1987) and Magnifico (2003). She has also received nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the Luna Awards for her roles in Nagbabagang Luha (1987), Beautiful Life (2002) and Tarima (2010). Romero has won two Metro Manila Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her roles in Tanging Yaman (2000) and Rainbow's Sunset (2018), and Best Supporting Actress for her role in I Think I'm in Love (2002).
    Romero has won Best Actress for Tanging Yaman (2000) and Best Supporting Actress for Magnifico (2003) at the Gawad Urian Awards. Her role as a brutal grandmother in Tarima (2010) earned her Best Supporting Actress at the Gawad Tanglaw and Star Awards for Movies. She has also received Star Awards for Movie Actress of the Year nominations for her roles in Tanging Yaman (2000), Fuchsia (2009) and Rainbow's Sunset (2018). Since her television debut in the late 1980s, Romero has also earned a number of accolades. She won Best Comedy Actress at the Star Awards for Television for her role in Palibhasa Lalake (1987) and earned further nominations for her roles in Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas (2003) and OK Fine, 'To Ang Gusto Nyo! (2005). Her other television projects such as I Wanna Be Happy (2006), Andres de Saya (2011) and Munting Heredera (2011) also earned nominations at the Golden Screen Award, winning Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role in Fuchsia (2009).
    Since her career inception in the early 1950s, she has been recognized by numerous award-giving bodies, academe and institutions for her contributions to film and television industry. In 2001, Romero was awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Cinemanila International Film Festival. The Film Development Council of the Philippines, as well as the FAMAS (2004), Gawad Urian (2004), Luna (2002) and Golden Screen Awards have each handed her a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2005, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts honored her with a PAMA-AS Gintong Bai Award for her significant contributions to the preservation and development of Philippine arts and culture. In 2009, she became the first recipient of MTRCB's Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2007, she was honored with the Bayani ng Pinilakang Tabing award by the Inding Indie Film Festival. In 2019, the PMPC Star Awards for Movies recognized her as one of the Outstanding Stars of the Century.
