Major Chandrakanth is a 1993 Indian Telugu-language film, produced by Mohan Babu under his Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner and directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Mohan Babu, Sharada, Ramya Krishna, Nagma and has music composed by M. M. Keeravani. N. T. Rama Rao portrayed the characters of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Veerapandiya Kattabomman, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the "Punyabhumi Naa Desam" song.
Plot
Major Chandrakanth is a gallant patriot who has been awarded Param Vir Chakra for shielding foreign delegates from a diehard terrorist GK. Whereat, his best friend, Major Rajasekhar, is gravely injured. Before dying, Chandrakanth promises to knit his daughter Sita with his son Sivaji. Due to a curveball, Sivaji becomes a gangster with a mate, Hema. Unbeknownst, he acolytes for a scandalous politician, MP Gnaeswara Rao, who enacts mayhem in society via his five sons. At a point, while absconding from the Police, Sivaji unknowingly splices Sita and flees.
Meanwhile, Chandrakanth returns and acquaints his family members, i.e., his ideal wife, Savitri, and daughters, Bharati & Jhansi, and Sivaji. Later, he continually impedes Gnaeswara Rao's offenses as a tight nut. Once, in a protest when Chandrakanth is wounded, Sivaji questions him. he implies the glory of his country, which reforms him, and he decides to quit his profession. Gnaeswara Rao denies it and apprehends him by Police; when Chandrakanth collapses, Sivaji spins back.
Once he secures Hema in operation, he detests discerning her as a smuggler, and she offers to accomplice when the need arises. Next, Sivaji's brother-in-law conducts an accident, and the victims demand ten lakhs as compensation. Ergo, he forcibly takes the path of crime. Yet, Chandrakanth rejects him, so he bolts the true culprit with the aid of Hema as she, too, infringes on the spree. Chandrakanth feels proud, learns about his nuptial with Sita, and welcomes them.
Following this, Chandrakanth fixes Jhansi's alliance with Inspector Raju, the son of a pacifist Swarajya Rao. Anyhow, Jhansi is wrong in love with Gnaeswara Rao's son Lokesh. Exploiting it, Gnaeswara Rao seeks to revile Chandrakanth at the venue when he counterstrikes' and accomplishes the marriage. Tragically, Chandrakanth diagnosed Savitri as terminally ill from cancer. Parallelly, he spots GK with Gnaeswara Rao and chases them when Hema & Sivaji follow them. Here, Hema dies, and Chandrakanth produces the diabolic shade of Gnaeswara Rao before the judiciary, but he absconds with fake alibis.
Simultaneously, Savitri passes away when Chandrakanth pledges to smash the anti-social elements. So, he ignites public rebellion. Besides, Sivaji accumulates evidence against brutal when they abduct Chandrakanth's family. At last, Chandrakanth & Sivaji cease them and unveil Gnaeswara Rao as a traitor. Finally, the movie ends with Chandrakanth sacrificing his life for the country.

Reception
Sita of Sivaranjani magazine appreciated Rama Rao's performance, in addition of praising story and technical aspects of the film. On the other hand, Zamin Ryot critic Alluru Rahim gave a more mixed review about the story and screenplay but appreciated Rama Rao's zeal for acting in the film.
