The Major Clubs T20 Tournament, is a professional Twenty20 cricket competition in Sri Lanka . The competition was established by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in 2022. It is the top-level Twenty20 competition in Sri Lanka.
History
In June 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket introduces a new domestic Twenty20 Cricket event, called Major Clubs T20 Tournament. that forms part of the Sri Lanka domestic cricket season. The league was aimed to make up for the absence of high-profile matches in Sri Lanka every year and to expose talented players from Country.
The Major Clubs T20 Tournament is a Domestic T20 Tournament Organized By The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The Tournament Is Scheduled To Start On 22 May, And Will Conclude On 6 June 2022. It Will Be The First Edition Of The Tournament.
26 First class teams set to play in the competition under four different groups namely Group A, B, C and D.
The tournament will provide an ideal opportunity for local players to impress the franchise team owners of Lanka Premier League ahead of the LPL player draft. The 3rd edition of LPL is scheduled to be held in August this year.
= 2023 season
=The Tournament Is Scheduled To Start On 27th May And Will Conclude On 11th June 2023.It Will Be The Second Edition Of The Tournament.
22 Teams are segregated into four groups and the winner of each group will advance to the semi-finals of the competition. The final of the tournament will be played on the 11th June at SSC Grounds, Colombo.
Colts CC and Nondescripts CC emerged as the joint champions of the Major Clubs T20 Tournament 2023 after being washed out of the final, today (11th June) at SSC Grounds in Colombo.
= 2024 season
=The tournament will be played from 12th to 29th May, with the participation of 18 teams, which have been divided into four groups. After the end of the round-robin stage, the top two teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Nondescripts Cricket Club emerged champions of 2024 Major Clubs T20 Tournament as they registered a convincing win over Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club in the final worked off today (28 June) at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.

Competition format
The 18 first-class Teams compete for the title, initially playing in four divisions, the number varying across the years. In 2024, matches were moved to be played in a block during May and June with the aim of attracting large crowds during the school summer holidays. In seasons with four divisions the top two teams in each division and the two best third place teams qualify for the playoff stage, in seasons with two divisions the top four teams in each division qualify for the playoff stage, with a set of quarter-finals leaving four teams in the competition.
