Marie Urban Le Febvre is a French perfume-creator, professor of perfume creation and author. She is also the founder of Urban Scents, fragrance creation laboratory.
Career
After studying chemistry, she graduated from ISIPCA in Versailles in 2000 and worked with Symrise and Takasago, an international perfume houses.
In 2014, she began working as an independent perfumer in Berlin. Alongside, she collaborates with other brands and scientific research projects. She has also contributed to the reconstruction of historical perfumes, collaborating with museums, archaeologists, and academic institutions.
In 2023, Marie relocated her fragrance laboratory from Berlin, Germany, to Trieste, Italy, where she continues to run the company Urban Scents.
Notable Projects
= Museum & Perfume Historical Reconstructions
=In 2018, she assisted the Germanisches National Museum in Nuremberg, Germany, by reconstructing an 18th-century fragrance for the exhibition "Luxus in Seide. Mode des 18. Jahrhunderts," which took place from July 5, 2018, to January 6, 2019. She has also worked on a permanent scented exhibition, Dream & Trauma, at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin reopening the Carpet Rooms at the Museum für Islamische Kunst. At the Louvre Abu Dhabi, she played a role in the exhibition "Roads of Arabia - Archaeological Treasures of Saudi Arabia," which ran from November 8, 2018, to February 16, 2019.
In Berlin, Germany, Marie worked on the scented exhibition Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt at the Deutsches Historisches Museum from November 21, 2019, to April 19, 2020. Since 2020, her work has been featured in the permanent exhibition Berlin Castle Court Pharmacy of the XVIIIth at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.
Marie was involved in the permanent exhibition BerlinZEIT, which opened on December 1, 2023, at the Ephraim-Palais Museum in Berlin. From March 23, 2024, she will also participate in a new permanent exhibition at the KSM Kölnisches Stadtmuseum in Cologne, Germany.
= Theater & Cinema
=In 2019, Marie created the scents for the historical thriller film Effigy: Poison and the City, a German independent film. Two years later, she served as a perfumer adviser for the second season of the German Netflix/ZDF series Das Parfum and in October 2023, she designed the olfactory scenography for Der Menschenfeind von Molière at the Burgtheater.
Personal Life
Marie is married to Alexander Urban, with whom she runs their joint company, Urban Scents. They have one son.
