  • Middlewood is a tram stop on the South Yorkshire Supertram network. It serves the surrounding areas of Middlewood and Wadsley around 4 km (2.5 mi) from the edge of Sheffield city centre. It is the last station on the Middlewood branch, opened on 23 October 1995. It is located adjacent to the A6102 road (Middlewood Road).

    History

This stop was opened along with the section between Shalesmoor and Middlewood in October 1995. A spur to Malin Bridge from Hillsborough was also opened at the same time. These were the final street-running tram lines to be opened on the Supertram network, and the network wouldn't be expanded again until 2018.
As of 2024, services run between Middlewood and Meadowhall Interchange every 12 minutes (at peak times).

    Layout

Middlewood is considered as having one platform long enough to hold two trams, but they are both separated from each other, effectively making two platforms on the same side of the tracks. The stop is located adjacent to and facing the main road, as at Malin Bridge.
There is a Park & Ride site at the stop, with 325 spaces.
