Muhammad Abdul Malek (born 29 August 1969) is a Bangladeshi scholar specializing in hadith and a jurist in the Hanafi tradition, currently serving as the Khatib at Baitul Mukarram, the National Mosque of Bangladesh. He has established a reputation for his research efforts, having studied advanced hadith for three years under Abdur Rashid Nomani and two years of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) under Taqi Usmani, followed by two and a half years of research in hadith in Saudi Arabia under Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghudda. In 1998, he published Al-Madkhal ila Ulum al-Hadith al-Sharif, which has been adopted as a textbook in several countries. Malek is a co-founder of Markazud Dawah Al Islamia, established in 1996, where he serves as education secretary and heads the Higher Hadith Department. He oversaw the publication of Al Kawsar, a monthly periodical launched in 2005 that acts as the institution's official publication. Additionally, he was nominated as a member of the Bangladesh Qawmi Madrasa Education Commission in 2012 and is affiliated with the Islamic Fiqh Academy.
Early life and education
Muhammad Abdul Malek was born on 29 August 1969 in Sarashpur, Laksham Upazila, Comilla District. He is the second of five siblings. His father Shamsul Haque was a scholar. After receiving Quran and primary education in his family, he studied at the Qawmi Madrasa of Shahrasti Khedi in Chandpur up to Mishkat Jamaat. In 1988, he completed his Daurai Hadith at Jamia Ulumul Islamia, Pakistan. After that, he joined the Higher Hadith Department of this Madrasa and studied Hadith for three years under the supervision of Abdur Rashid Nomani. In 1992, he joined Darul Uloom Karachi and studied Higher Fiqh and Fatwa for two years under the supervision of Taqi Usmani. In 1995, he went to Saudi Arabia and worked as a research associate on Hadith and other research works under the supervision of Abdul Fattah Abu Guddah for about two and a half years until 1997.
Literary works
In 2005, under his supervision, the monthly Al-Kawsar was published as the mouthpiece of Markazud Dawah Al-Islamiya. This magazine published his writings on various contemporary issues, including works that dispel newly discovered misconceptions in the science of hadith. His books include:
