Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital (Thai: โรงพยาบาลพหลพลพยุหเสนา), sometimes abbreviated as Phahol Hospital is a hospital located in Mueang Kanchanaburi district, Kanchanaburi province, Thailand. It is classified under the Ministry of Public Health as a regional hospital and is the main hospital of Kanchanaburi province. It is an affiliated teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
History
Construction of Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital was started by the Ministry of Interior on 23 January 1950. The hospital was constructed land previously used as a base of operations by the Imperial Japanese Army, during the construction of the Burma Railway. The area was cleared of explosives and five buildings were completed and opened to the public on 3 May 1953. The hospital was named in commemoration of Phraya Phahonphonpayuhasena, the second prime minister of Thailand.
