Phiona Nyamutoro is a Ugandan politician and legislator representing the Youth in the parliament of Uganda, she is the National female youth Member of parliament in the parliament of Uganda. She is a staunch member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) on whose ticket she got to parliament. She is also the current Minister of state for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, to which she was appointed on 22 March 2024.
Background and education
Nyamutoro holds a first class degree in Arts (Luganda, Sociology) and a master's degree in public administration from Makerere university. She went to Najjera progressive school for her primary school education, Misanvu SS in Kibinge Bukomansimbi district for O'level and Maleku Secondary school for A'level.
Career
Nyamutoro was a vice guild president while at Makerere University 2015 -2016.
She was also a member of the National Youth council representing Nebbi district. Nyamutoro is the first National youth Member of Parliament hailing from Nebbi district.
Nyamutoro is also a champion of anti pregnancy and Gender issues.
In the 11th parliament, she is a member of the committee on education and sports.
She was appointed Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development as part of the cabinet reshuffle by President Museveni
Personal life
She got engaged to Eddy Kenzo on Saturday 29th June 2024 at a private traditional ceremony. The couple has a child.
