Poppy Chancellor (4 June 1987 – 29 September 2023) was a British artist. Known for her distinct style, she gained recognition for her contributions to the art community, including work with notable organisations and participation in various cultural events. She was mostly known for the papercutting art.
Chancellor authored Cut it Out! in 2016, a book on papercut art. She also founded Griefcase, a support group for bereavement, and launched the Dead Parent Club podcast, reflecting her commitment to community support.
Early and personal life
Born in West London to actress Anna Chancellor and poet Jock Scot, Chancellor was raised in a bohemian environment. Her early artistic tendencies were evident in childhood, nurtured by her family's unconventional lifestyle. Chancellor studied illustration at Kingston University and furthered her education at the Royal Drawing School.
Her personal life was marked by health challenges, including lupus and acute myeloid leukemia. Chancellor died on 29 September 2023 at the age of 36. She is survived by her husband Jonny Mckenzie-Wynne, her mother, and her half-sister Tara Scott.
