  • Pramod Kumar Varshney is a computer scientist and an electrical engineer at Syracuse University's College of Engineering and Computer Science. He is known for research on distributed detection theory.
    Varshney was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 1997 for contributions to the theory and applications of distributed detection and data fusion.
    He was honored with the 2021 IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) Pioneer Award.
    Varshney was awarded the IEEE Judith A. Resnik Award in 2012.
    He was given the Yaakov Bar-Shalom Award for a Lifetime of Excellence by the International Society of Information Fusion in 2018.
    Varshney earned a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in computer science in 1976 under Abraham H. Haddad.
