  • Premabhai Hall is an abandoned theater in Ahmedabad, India. It is owned by the Gujarat Vidya Sabha.


    History


    During the British period, the hall was used for theatrical performances. In the 1960s, there was a proposal to redesign the Premabhai Hall, and B. V. Doshi was selected for the project. In 1972, the new building built in a brutalist style was opened.
    In the 1990s, the hall was abandoned due to fire regulation issues. After a failed demolition proposal, the building remains standing, although abandoned.


    Description


    The hall is built in a brutalist style, with the entire structure built out of reinforced concrete. It has a seating capacity of 1000.
