Sadik Adam Al-Hassan is a British Labour Party politician and pharmacist. He has been the Member of Parliament for North Somerset since 2024. He gained the seat from Liam Fox, a Conservative.




Early life and career


Al-Hassan's father arrived in Britain in the 1970s. Al-Hassan studied at the University of Bath. He was a store manager at Boots in Wirral for three years and worked at Well Pharmacy for over seven years as an area operations manager and a branch manager. At time of election, he worked in Cribbs Causeway as the superintendent pharmacist of the online PillTime, which has about 200,000 nominated patients all around the UK.




Political career


Al-Hassan was 6th on Labour's list of candidates for the South West England region in the 2019 European Parliament elections and was not elected.
He was selected as Labour's candidate for North Somerset in the 2024 general election and ran on a platform of rebuilding the NHS. He also expressed concern over pharmacies closing in the local area. He defeated the incumbent Conservative Party candidate Liam Fox, who had been the MP for the area (North Somserset and previously Woodspring) for three decades.
In November 2024, he joined a group of fellow medic MPs to call for Parliament to back assisted dying legislation.




Personal life


Al-Hassan is Muslim. As of 2024, he has lived in Emersons Green for ten years.
