Sejarah wilayah Mediterania adalah sejarah salah satu budaya manusia tertua di Pesisir Laut Tengah yang penting untuk dipahami, yang mencakup asal usul dan perkembangan Mesopotamia, Mesir, Kanaan, Funisia, Yehuda, Kartago, Yunani, Persia, Iliria, Trakia, Etruskan, Iberia, Romawi, Bizantin, Bulgaria, Arab, Berber, Ottoman, Kristen dan budaya Islam. Laut Tengah adalah jalan raya utama pusat transportasi, perdagangan dan pertukaran budaya antara masyarakat yang beragam yang meliputi tiga benua: Asia Barat, Afrika Utara, dan Eropa Selatan.
