Shoki Kitamura (北村彰基, Kitamura Shoki) is a Japanese professional wrestler currently performing in the Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling Zero1 where he is a former World Junior Heavyweight Champion and International Junior Heavyweight Champion.
Professional wrestling career
= Independent circuit (2017–present)
=Due to partially being a freelancer, Kitamura is known for competing in various promotions of the Japanese independent scene. He made his professional wrestling debut at Pro-Wrestling ACE Vol. 6, an event promoted by Wrestle-1 on July 2, 2017, where he wrestled Tsugutaka Sato into a time-limit draw as a result of a dark match. At JTO Itadaki, an event promoted by Professional Wrestling Just Tap Out on November 18, 2021, Kitamura unsuccessfully challenged Arata for the Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
He is also known for competing in various joshi promotions as male talent. At Ice Ribbon New Ice Ribbon #957, an event produced by Ice Ribbon on May 1, 2019, he teamed up with Himeka Arita and Ibuki Hoshi in a losing effort against Amazon, Giulia and Naoki Kamata as a result of a mixed tag team match. At Diana Jaguar's Memorial 61th Birthday & 46th Anniversary, an event promoted by World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana on July 25, 2022, Kitamura teamed up with Tsugutaka Sato, Astroman and Ryo Hoshino in a losing effort against Junya Matsunaga, Satsuki Nagao, Takafumi and Takumi Baba in an eight-man tag team match. At Marvelous 7th Anniversary on May 3, 2023, he teamed up with JT Thorne and Leo Isaka to defeat Astro, Ryo Hoshino and Shiho.
= Pro Wrestling Zero1 (2018–present)
=Kitamura is best known for his tenure with Pro Wrestling Zero1. He made his debut in the company on the second night of the ZERO1 Dream Series from February 12, 2018, where he fell short to Towa Iwasaki. During his time in the company, he chased for various championships promoted by it. At ZERO1 22nd Anniversary on March 5, 2023, he unsuccessfully challenged Masato Tanaka for the Zero1 World Heavyweight Championship. Due to Zero1 holding various partnerships with several other promotions, Kitamura worked in multiple cross over events such as the BJW/ZERO1/2AW Big Clash from December 24, 2022, where he teamed up with Tatsuya Hanami and Yuya Aoki in a losing effort against Ayato Yoshida, Daisuke Sekimoto and Masato Tanaka.
Kitamura is known for competing in various of the promotion's signature events. The one for which he is best known for competing in is the Tenka-Ichi Junior Tournament, competition where he debuted in 2019, edition won by Hub and also involving Fuminori Abe, Hide Kubota, Ikuto Hidaka, Mao, Raicho, Sean Guinness, Tatsuhito Takaiwa and Sugi. He scored his best results in 2020 and 2022 when he succeeded in winning both of the editions of the tournament. In 2020, he defeated Drew Parker in the first rounds, Hide Kubota in the second rounds, Raicho in the semifinals and El Lindaman in the finals. In 2022, Kitamura competed in the block B which he topped with a total of fifteen points after going against Astroman, Leo Isaka, Yoshikazu Yokoyama and Jun Masaoka. He moved up to the finals where he defeated Tatsuhito Takaiwa.
Another signature event in which he competed is the Furinkazan. He made his first appearance at the 2018 edition where he teamed up with Yoshiaki Fujiwara and fell short to Shinjiro Otani and Tatsuhito Takaiwa in the first rounds. He scored his next appearance at the 2021 edition where he teamed up with Takafumi and defeated Tsugutaka Sato and Koji Doi in the first rounds but fell short to Tomohiko Hashimoto and Gajo in the semifinals. At the 2022 edition he teamed up with Leo Isaka and fell short to the Kubota Brothers (Hide Kubota and Yasu Kubota) in the first rounds.
= Pro Wrestling Noah (2018, 2022–present)
=Kitamura began working for Pro Wrestling Noah as a developmental talent shared by Zero1. He made his first appearance in the company on the second night of the NOAH Winter Navigation 2018 from December 7, where he teamed up with Sugi and Tatsuhiko Takaiwa in a losing effort against Ratel's (Hayata, Tadasuke and Yo-Hey). After a four-year absence, he returned at New Hope 2022 on December 18, where he wrestled Atsushi Kotoge in a time-limit draw. He began working in various of the promotion's signature pay-per-views at N Innovation 2022 on December 23, where he defeated Hi69 in singles competition.
