Stefano Cherchi (8 March 2001 – 3 April 2024) was an Italian jockey.
Career
Cherchi had 38 wins in the United Kingdom riding horses trained by fellow Italian Marco Botti. In total he rode the winners of 106 races in Britain and a further two in Australia.
In 2021, he won the Grey Horse Handicap riding Mitrosonfire.
Personal life
His girlfriend Brittany is the daughter of Irish jockey Kieren Fallon.
On 20 March 2024, Cherchi was injured when his horse Hasime fell while racing at Canberra, Australia. On 3 April he died in hospital from his injuries, at the age of 23.
