Stelana Kliris is a Cypriot film director, screenwriter, and producer. Her romantic comedy Find Me Falling (2024) is the first film from Cyprus to premiere on Netflix.
Stelana Kliris was born in South Africa to parents from Cyprus who ran a grocery store. She studied journalism at Rhodes University. After living in London and Athens, she moved to Cyprus in 2010.
She directed a pair of short documentaries, Flame of Peace (2002), about the Olympic Truce, and Unmasking Mavis (2002), about LGBTQ subcultures in South Africa. Her short film The Fiddler (2010) was inspired by her grandfather's story of his desire to own a violin.
Her first feature film, Committed (2013), is an English-language romantic comedy about a man pressured to propose who meets a runaway bride. Find Me Falling (2024) was initially inspired by Don Ritchie, an Australian man who saved 180 people from suicide at The Gap, a suicide hotspot. Harry Connick Jr. stars as John Allman, a rock star who buys a seaside home in Cyprus not knowing that it is near a suicide hotspot. In Cyprus, Allman reconnects with an old flame, played by Agni Scott. The film was translated into over 30 languages and hit #1 on Netflix shortly after its release.
