In his review for Hindustan Times, columnist Harsh V Pant wrote that the book covers wide range of topics including the emerging global order, rise of regional powers such as China, nationalism along with its discontents, while evaluating the Indian strategy through the Mahabharata prism. Pant also noted Jaishankar's acknowledgement to the inherent contradictions in India's engagements in multiple groupings but an absence regarding what costs underline this approach.
Writing for The Hindu, Stanley Johny stated that India Way offers an authoritative account of New Delhi’s worldview as a foreign policy framework, however its success can be known fully only when tested on the altar of history.
