Tikka-Mannila or Tikkamannila is a village and a district of Jyväskylä in Finland. It was a part of Jyväskylän maalaiskunta until its disestablishment in 2009. It is located to the southeast of Tikkakoski. The national road 4 passes through Tikka-Mannila.
Tikka-Mannila has been one of Jyväskylä's register villages, which also included the area of modern Tikkakoski.
Geography
The district (kaupunginosa, an area used for development and planning) borders Tikkakoski in the north, Kuukanpää in the east, Puuppola in the south and Kuikka in the west. The district does not form a statistical sub-district (pienalue) and is instead divided between Liinalampi, Tikkakosken keskusta and Luonetjärvi.
History
The original name of the village may have been Mannila after the Savonian surname Manninen, attested from the area at least since 1585. Eventually members of the Tikka (Tikkanen) family moved into the area, establishing a farm also named Tikka sometime before the 1620s, after which the village acquired its current name. The register village has also been called Saarijärvi.
Tikka-Mannila was initially a part of the chapel community of Laukaa, which became an independent parish in 1628. By 1693, it had become one of the villages of the Jyväskylä chapel community under Laukaa. The Jyväskylä parish was separated from Laukaa in 1856. In 1868, Jyväskylän maalaiskunta was established as a municipality, with Tikka-Mannila becoming a part of it.
In the early 20th century, the urban area of Tikkakoski started to develop around the factories of Oy Tikkakoski Ab. As Tikkakoski grew, more of old Tikka-Mannila was absorbed into it.
In 1967, there were plans to create a municipality called Tikkakoski, which would also have included Tikka-Mannila, along with Uurainen as well as the village of Vehniä in Laukaa.
After the consolidation of Jyväskylän maalaiskunta with the town of Jyväskylä, Tikka-Mannila became a district of Jyväskylä.
Services
As Tikka-Mannila is located in close proximity to Tikkakoski, Tikka-Mannila does not have many services of its own. There is a daycare center on the side of the Tikkakoskentie near the former Tikka farm.
