Torque (Dudley Soames) is a supervillain in the DC Comics Universe and an enemy of Nightwing. Created by writer Chuck Dixon and artist Scott McDaniel, he first appeared in Nightwing (vol. 2) #1 (October 1996).
Fictional character biography
Dudley Soames is a corrupt officer in the Blüdhaven police and an enemy of Nightwing. However, he refuses to kill Nightwing, intending to manipulate Blüdhaven's factions into fighting.
Soames' ally Blockbuster later betrays him, twists his neck, and leaves him to die. Soames survives, but his neck is permanently inverted. As such, he uses special glasses to see behind him.
Torque is later imprisoned, but arranges a prison break with Nite-Wing. After realizing Torque's true nature, Nite-Wing kills him.
In other media
Torque appears in the Arrow episode "Unthinkable", portrayed by Michael Adamthwaite. This version is a member of the Suicide Squad.
Torque appears as a character summon in Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure.
