Tors are a three-piece indie folk band from Devon, United Kingdom, composed of brothers Matt and Theo Weedon, and Jack Bowden.
The band released their latest EP Miracle in 2024 and have signed a deal with Glassnote Records.
In June 2023, they went on a successful sold out headline tour across the UK before playing a sold out headline show at New York’s Rockwood Music Hall in July. In the middle of this, their single “Amsterdam” became BBC Radio One’s Introducing Track of the Week, making one of their dreams come true. They also made it onto BBC Radio 2’s playlist and slid into the top 100 airplay in Germany.
In 2024, Tors embarked on a major 28-date arena tour of mainland Europe as main support to James Blunt. This run of shows previewed new music which was recorded in Woodstock with producer, Simone Felice (The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Vance Joy). The tour with James Blunt saw Tors closing in on their mission to craft “intimate, personal songs written to be played in stadiums”, having also toured with Welshly Arms, Tom Walker, Duncan Laurence, X Ambassadors, Freya Ridings, John Newman, and Sam Ryder.
They are set to tour the UK, the US, and mainland Europe in the Summer and Autumn of 2024.
History
The band was founded in Guildford, Surrey by brothers Theo and Matt Weedon, grandsons of influential guitarist Bert Weedon, and Jack Bowden, a drummer whom the brothers recruited via an advert on Gumtree.
The band took their name from tors, a type of rock formation commonly found in Dartmoor National Park, after moving to Devon from Guildford.
On 5 July 2023, it was announced that Tors had been signed to Glassnote Records.
