In Khiamniungan language the transcription of Christian is called Tuathih. It also means
Church. which significantly changed the way people look towards modern culture. But this impact yields positive result towards the middle of 20th century preceded by other Naga tribes.
History
In ancient Khiamniungan before Christianity, believing in the existences of ancestral spirit or spirit of the hearth or household were common and those ancestors remained with the family to take care of them whenever needed. In those day Ienyu(Ehnyu) and Iepou(Ehpou) referring to female and male Shaman respectively and both were given equal importance and reverence.
They believed in one supreme God above all deities which They
call Kouh-o(Kooa) the supreme deity. The regard that the sun and the moon are representative
of Kouh-o.
Christian population
At present the Christian population has increased to mark over 60,000 people in the region.
