= Kehidupan awal
Tubagus Muslihat was a remarkable military figure whose career began during the Japanese occupation. As a registered soldier of PETA, he served as a Shodancho (commander). After Japan's defeat in World War II, all PETA soldiers were discharged, and Tubagus Muslihat became part of the Tentara Keamanan Rakyat (TKR).
In 1944, he married Kartinah, a girl from Bogor. However, before their first anniversary, the call to defend independence came as the Dutch and NICA forces returned, accompanying the Allied forces. As the Commander of Company IV Battalion II of the TKR, he took up arms to reclaim Bogor from the Allies.
Various battles ensued across West Java. During an assault on the Allied headquarters, now known as POLRESTA Bogor Kota, Captain Muslihat led his troops in a fierce gunfight. Amidst the chants of "merdeka" (freedom), Captain Muslihat bravely left his cover and attacked the Allies head-on. According to Ma’mun Permadi, a fellow independence veteran, Captain Muslihat advanced from the front, shooting several Allied soldiers.
Tragically, he was struck by a bullet in the abdomen but continued to fight despite his severe injury. A second bullet later hit his waist, causing him to fall and ultimately die on the battlefield. His blood-soaked uniform and the place where his statue now stands bear witness to his unwavering spirit in defending the nation's independence.
Captain Muslihat died on December 25, 1945, leaving behind his pregnant wife, Kartinah. He passed on with a poignant message to her: to give their possessions to those in need and to name their unborn child Tubagus Merdeka if it were a boy, as recounted by Ma’mun Permadi.
Captain Muslihat's legacy remains a testament to his dedication and sacrifice for his country's freedom.
